Why your Google Business Profile decides so much

When someone in Orpington searches "emergency plumber" on their phone, Google shows a map and three businesses before it shows a single website. Those three are chosen almost entirely on the strength of their Business Profiles.

What we optimise on your profile

A Google Business Profile has around forty things you can set. About ten of them move rankings and conversions; the rest are housekeeping. We do all of them, in the right order.

Optimisation isn't a one-off form-filling exercise. Google rewards profiles that are complete, accurate, active and trusted, and it quietly punishes ones that go stale or drift out of line with the rest of the web. So we treat your profile as a working asset, like your van or your phone line, with a set-up phase and then monthly upkeep.

The set-up phase fixes the structural things: the right primary and secondary categories for what you actually sell, a services list that mirrors the searches people make, a description written for customers rather than for Google, the correct service area or address handling for how you trade, hours that match reality, and attributes that earn the little badges customers notice. We also make sure your name, address and phone number are identical everywhere else Google looks, because inconsistency is one of the commonest reasons a good business ranks badly.

The monthly phase keeps the profile alive: fresh photos of real jobs, short posts with offers or recent work, answers to the questions customers ask, a steady flow of new reviews and a reply to every one of them. This is the part most businesses never get round to, and it's the part that separates the profiles that hold a top-three position from the ones that visit it once.

  • Primary and secondary categorieschosen from what ranks in your area, not what sounds right
  • Services and productslisted to match the searches your customers actually type
  • Business description and attributeswritten for customers, with the badges Google shows
  • Photos and videosreal jobs, real team, real premises, geotagged and refreshed monthly
  • Google Postsoffers, recent work and news, so the profile never looks abandoned
  • Review generation and repliesa compliant way to ask, and every review answered within a day
  • Q&Athe questions customers ask, answered before they have to
  • Name, address and phone consistencymatched across Bing, Apple and the directories Google trusts
  • Spam and competitor monitoringfake listings and keyword-stuffed names in your area reported and removed
  • TrackingUTM-tagged links so profile traffic shows separately in Analytics

How it works

Set-up in the first month, then a monthly routine you never have to think about.

Week 1

Audit and access

We check how you show up today, who is beating you and why, then get manager access to your profile (or claim it if nobody has).

Weeks 2–3

Structural fixes

Categories, services, description, service area, hours, attributes, photos and citation consistency, all done properly.

Week 4

Reviews and posts live

The review request system is running, the first posts are up, tracking is in place, and you get your baseline ranking map.

Monthly

Keep it winning

New photos and posts, review replies, Q&A, spam checks, and a one-page report showing calls, clicks, directions and rank across your area.

What it means for your business

The practical results owners notice.

Into the map box

Appear in the three businesses Google shows first for your main searches across your service area, not just outside your front door.

More calls from the profile itself

Customers call, message and ask for directions straight from Google. A well-run profile turns searches into contacts without a website visit.

Reviews that keep coming

A steady flow of recent reviews is the single biggest trust signal to both customers and Google, and most businesses only get them by accident.

Protected from spam

Fake competitors and keyword-stuffed listings push honest businesses down. We report them and get them removed.

Numbers you can see

Calls, website clicks, direction requests and your ranking across your area, monthly, in plain English.

None of your time

You approve photos on WhatsApp and get on with the job. Everything else is done for you.

Across South East London and North West Kent

We optimise Google Business Profiles for businesses across Bromley, Orpington, Bexley, Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Dartford, Sevenoaks and Croydon, and we meet clients in person because we know the areas we work in.

Questions owners ask us

Do I need a website to rank in the map box?

No. The map box is decided mainly by your Google Business Profile, your reviews and how consistent your details are across the web. A good website helps, particularly for competitive categories, but plenty of top-three businesses across Bromley and Bexley rank on the strength of their profile alone. We'll tell you honestly which situation you're in.

My profile is already set up. What's left to optimise?

Almost always: the primary category, the services list, the description, the photos and, above all, a steady flow of reviews and posts. Most profiles we audit are technically complete and practically dormant. The audit shows you exactly what's missing against the businesses currently beating you.

How long before I see results?

Structural fixes often move rankings within two to six weeks. Reviews and activity compound over three to six months. In less competitive suburbs a properly run profile can reach the top three quickly; in a crowded town centre it takes a plan and patience, and we'll say which before you spend anything.

Is it safe to ask customers for reviews?

Yes, provided you ask everyone (not just the happy ones), never pay or incentivise, and never write them yourself. Our review system follows Google's rules and UK consumer law, and we reply to every review, good or bad, within a day.

Can you fix a suspended or duplicate profile?

Usually. Suspensions, duplicates and wrong-address listings are common and fixable through Google's reinstatement process, which we handle for you. It's often the first thing the audit uncovers.

Do you cover Bing Places and Apple Business Connect too?

Yes, as part of Be Found First. Bing feeds Copilot and Windows searches, and Apple Maps is the default on every iPhone, so we keep all three profiles consistent.
